1 Subway

How do I love thee?
Let me count the ways.

You transport us through the boroughs, to the airport, Yankee Stadium, museums, and a friend at a coffee shop on the Upper West Side. And you bring Mr. Miller home from Columbia each day.

You free me from the burden of oil changes, insurance premiums, and gasoline stations.

You foster all kinds of "unique" smells and people. Florescent high-tops? You flaunt them in spades.

You provide a moving platform for roving preachers, dramatic readings, amateur musicians, and charitable pitches. The break dancers making art in the narrow aisles are a wonder!

You house cute rats. In fact, I've seen Mrs. Frisby's Justin as I wait for yet another delayed train.

You force me to walk between stops and to those places (like church) to which you provide no direct route. Those coerced walks are a blessing in disguise because I'm in the best physical condition of my life. No gym membership is needed here. Or formal entertainment. Only a $2 metro fare and free access to the streets of your City.

I know some of those preachers! That was who I was going to do the Missions Trip with. Our interns just came back from there & their favorite part was preaching on the subway. We are planning another trip in the fall. So funny!
